According to the box, this weighs 7.8kg and it is a solid little unit. It’s sturdier and better made than I was expecting. The instructions aren’t detailed, but they told me everything I needed to know: remove the packaging material and all the sticky tape, then let it sit an hour before plugging it in (to allow the refridgerant to settle).I was pretty keen, after 50 minutes I wanted to make some ice. It’s 3 steps. 1. Plug it in. 2. Fill the water to the max line in the reservoir (under the ice basket). 3.Press the ON/OFF button. I left it set on L for large.First thing I noticed is that it’s not really noisy. There’s a trickle noise as it refills the ice molds and the sound of the ice tipping out, otherwise all you hear is the fan going.The first lot of ice took less than 10 minutes and looked smaller than the ice made after it has been running for a while. In an hour it was full and it stopped making ice until I took some out of the bucket.These days so many appliances only have 12 months warramty, so to find a unit like this has 18 months warranty made me feel a bit better about spending $159 on an ice machine.I bought this to sit in my bar cabinet for cocktails and I think it will be used everyday in summer for cold drinks. The unit looks nice enough to be out on display all the time.Best gadget I’ve bought for a while!
